About Auto Service Technology

Students engage in a comprehensive sequence of coursework that emphasizes foundational and advanced competencies in engine repair, electrical and electronic systems, steering and suspension, brakes, heating and air conditioning, drivetrain systems, and preventive maintenance. Instruction integrates industry-standard tools, computerized diagnostic equipment, service information systems, and hands-on laboratory experiences that mirror real-world automotive service environments. Throughout the pathway, students learn to interpret service manuals, analyze performance data, perform multi-point inspections, and apply systematic troubleshooting methods to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.

Students have opportunities to pursue industry-recognized certifications, such as ASE student credentials, as well as participate in work-based learning that provides direct exposure to professional automotive service facilities.

The pathways prepares students for careers including automotive technician, service advisor, diagnostic specialist, brake and alignment technician, and general automotive service professional, as well as further education in automotive technology or engineering programs.
